Hey all,
I did some reconfiguring of samba in dapper and then restarted the service (/etc/init.d/samba restart). After the restart, however, samba doesn't appear to be working. I've determined that the process (smbd) is running, but from nmap and netstat, it doesn't seem that smbd actually binded to a port. Keep in mind that samba works fine with a restart of the computer. I have tried a restart of inetd and that doesn't appear to fix anything. Now, if I run smbd as root from the command line and check the open ports, there's friendly old 139 - netbios, and everything works fine. Any ideas?
