Small Distro w/Kernel Newer Than 2.4.4?
I'm trying to get a distro up on my IBM 560E w/80mb ram and a 2GB hard drive. I've been looking around for distros to install (I've done a few basic installs on newer machines from live CDs). I have to boot from floppies so my plan was to boot from floppy, then install the rest of the system from CD, I tried this with slackware 11, the only problem is my CD drive needs a kernel newer than 2.4.4 to be recognized. So now I'm completely lost. Any help is greatly appreciated.

DSL is a great small distro, have you tried it? I think it uses a 2.6 kernel by default http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/

Zenwalk (based on Slackware) is another lightweight distro with a newer kernel:
