    Best 64 bit linux distro

    What linux distro is the best for a 64 bit possessor but is also laptop friendly?
    I'm only familiar with openSUSE (although I"m waiting for Mepis 6.5 final to come out).

    Are you sure you want a 64-bit distribution? AMD64 and Intel Core 2 Duo chips will run 32-bit operating systems just fine. I personally recommend 32-bit over 64-bit for the time being, even on a 64-bit processor. Here's why:

    If you're still interested in using a 64-bit distribution, just pick one with which you're familiar. If you know SuSE, go with the 64-bit version of SuSE. There are no significant performance differences between the various 64-bit distributions any more than there are between the 32-bit ones. Use what works for you.
