    shell and kernel?


    I often see these 2 words shell and kernel in some articles associated with operation systems such as Windows and Linux, I don't know what they are and what they are for, are they the parts of the operation systems.

    The kernel isthe central module of an operating system. It is the part of the operating system that loads first, and it remains in main memory. Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk management. A command-line interface is usually referred to as a shell.
