Ubuntu edgy
Hi!
Ubuntu is very good, but the 7.04 version was recently released, and I have read some problems with it so far.
My recommendation for you is to stay with the Ubuntu 6.10 - la Edgy Eft versio for now, that is very stable and works fine. Download the Live CD Ubuntu Edgy 6.10 installer instead of the 7.04 installer.
During the installation, enter into manual partition editing (if you have other systems installed like WinXP, the automatic version is not recommended) don't modify the system clock (you can adjust it later), and don't forget to create at least two Linux partitions:
1.- One Linux Swap partition (it is generally quite little in size)
2.- One Linux ext3 huge size partition, where the Linux system will live, and it is set on this partition with the "/" symbol (I am keeping this instruction as simple as I can, with no technical names), during the manual partition setup.
With these two initial recommendations in mind, you shold have no problems. Ubuntu Edgy is very stable and reliable.
I would very much like to know how did it go, so please reply to this post
Hope this helps,
Joe
