Easiest distro for XP user?
Hello,
Now i got one extra laptop on my table and thought to install some distro on it.
Which one is the easiest for 12 year Windows user? I mean best distro for XP user to integrate with.
Lately Ubuntu 7.04 got released, and people are saying good things about it. But i heard that Ubuntu doesn't have all the needed codecs (for mp3 playback etc) installed, so xUbuntu or kUbuntu or something like that was a better choice.
Also i've read about Ulteo, but it's still in Alpha 1 stage, so i dunno if it's stable enough.
Thanks,

Ubuntu. Installing codecs is almost completely automatic.

Most distros come with some limits on codecs or DVD playback and this is for legal reasons. Ubuntu is probably one of the easiest to get going and it includes automatic codec install in the latest version. Kubuntu and Xubuntu only differ from Ubuntu in their desktop environment so there is no difference in the available codecs.
If you want to try Ubuntu with all of the codecs installed from the start try LinuxMint.

Some good recommendations have been provided.
Also, you can take a look at the link in my signature for lots of good information on getting started with Linux. Ultimately, you'll have to make the choice on which distro to go with yourself. Only by experimenting with them will you be able to determine which one suits your personal tastes, and hardware.
Enjoy the Linux experience!
