A little help for a new guy.

Hi guys I'm compleatly new to this Linux thing so don't know very much.

I've been looking for a Linux distribution to install on a spare (and rather old) computer I have. It's a 350MHz pentium II with 224MB of ram but runs Windows XP Pro flawlessly.

In its new life as a Linux it's only gonna be used for torrents and a wee bit of web browsing if all other computers are being used. I'd also like it be relatively user friendly and be able to connect to a windows based network without too much hassle.

I know that it's hard for you to recomend distributions because of the sheer amount available but I hope I've given you enough info so someone can point me in the right direction.

    Cheers

    Welcome to the forums!

Take a look at this recent poll regarding favorite distros for older computer hardware:

Also check DistroWatch.com: Put the fun back into computing. Use Linux, BSD. for the different types of distros and specs on each os.
