Need way to clean out " home " folder, please!!

I have a suse 10 os and I have 2169 items in my home folder. I would like to put some of them on discs. I would like to delete some of them. I tried moving some of them onto my desktop to delete them but I am told I do not have permission to move them. I could not find any way in yast to get into the home folder and delete some items. I again ask for your gracious assistance please. Thanks!!

You shouldn't need to move the files in order to delete them. As far as having permissions denied: you need read permissions on the file and write permissions on the directory you're moving it to.

dont you have full permissions in your Home Folder? are you logged in as user who owns Home folder?
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

When I go to my home folder I can change permission on some files. There are files that are locked that I can not do anything with. There are files that are not locked that I can not do anything with. When I start up my computer I do not log in as anybody because I never attempted to set up any accounts. At installation I remember being asked something about being the only user and stating so.

Do I have to go into yast and set up an account to have full permissions in my home folder?
