New to linux, just looking for opinions

I am looking to get a linux distro and I was just looking for a few opinions on like the top 3 distros are to them.

    Thanks
I know that distros are different for everyone I would just like to see a few peoples opinion on a couple then choose a couple from a list and try them all out.

    Thank you!

You should get most peoples opinions in this thread here. Also check out Distrowatch.com, it's not exact statistics but it will give you an opinion on what's popular at the moment.

Best thing is just try them out and see where it takes you. To be honest from first appearances Linux distros mainly differ in their package manager and sometimes the configuration tools. There are so many great advances happening now that most distros include them so I find myself at home using almost any one.

Personally I like Debian and its derivatives (i.e: Ubuntu, Knoppix etc.). I like .deb packages and how easy they are to work with, I also particularly like the apt package manager however that is not specific-to-debian and can be used with .rpm file formats too.

I've tried Suse on a couple of times, from version 9.1 and up until the current version which is 10.2. I like the look of it but personally I am not too much of a KDE fan although KDE can look awesome..I prefer the simplicity of the Gnome desktop environment.

In the end as you probably know, it's all up to you but those are my opinions. I have only once tried slackware-based distros...It's nice and fast (was Zenwalk btw) but it's a bit harder to find your feet with.
