Is there a cure for" Root " file browser failure?

During my last suse 10 os " repair installation " I was notified that my files were corrupted. I logged in as " root " and clicked each of the folders to open them. When I got to the tmp folder it is listed as having 35,574 items. My file browser fails on this folder. I am guessing that this is the file that has been corrupted.

Is there anything that I can possibly do to straighten the folder out? Thanks!!

    ls /tmp?
    _or _
    rm -r /tmp?

    That's a lot of /tmp/files.

I changed the permissions on the folder. Then I sent it to the trash bin and emptied the trash bin. Then I made a new tmp folder. I do not know what was in it but I'm going to be checking out any new entries.

What gets sent to a tmp folder in the root file system anyway?

There must have been a bunch of bad stuff in my tmp folder because after getting rid of the entire folder my computer is running a lot crisper and i don't see anything but suse 10 and grub for windows when I start up my computer.

There sure is a lot of stuff in the suse file system.
