    clean install

I have partitioned my hard drive and installed Mepis on the new partition. I need to do a clean install for Windows XP with the disc that came with the system. Will this clean install affect the Mepis partition? In other words, will the disc just erase the windows section of the drive?

Well, you just need to be carefull to install windows on the partition you want. You have to tell the installer which partition to use. If you have both Windows and Mepis partitions, Windows will see more than one partition available and ask you which one you want to use.

Windows Installer will recognize Linux Partition as Unknown. leave unknown partition as it is and install Windows in other existing NTFS/FAT32 partition only.
you have to re-install GRUB ( Boot Loader ) after Windows installation.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
