how to install nvidia riva tnt2 model 64 driver for ubuntu 7.04

hello,
on my nvidia card dont work desktop effects on ubuntu. what driver i need and where can i download it?

You need the legacy nvidia drivers for that card. Try Envy.

First, download it to your home directory, then go into the console and type:

sudo dpkg -i envy_0.9.5-0ubuntu5_all.deb

If that gives an error message, enter:

sudo apt-get install -f

.

After all that is done, press ctrl+alt+f1. This will make you go into the console. Log in and enter:

sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop (for x/ubuntu)
sudo /etc/init.d/kdm stop (for kubuntu)

and

sudo envy -t

Now choose option 1 and answer yes to any questions it asks. After it's finished, you have your driver installed.
