    I am completely lost on how to install Avant, I have gotten to the "./configure" part and let that run, but what do I do after that?

    Did ./configure end succesfully? If so, you just need to compile it using make and the make install , read the INSTALL file in the folder for more information

    Not familiar with it or what the README might say on how to compile it, but under normal circumstances, after "configure" you do...
    Code:
    make
    and then...
    Code:
    make install
    doing both as "su."

    when I try the make it gives me an error, "make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop."

    Did you get anything toward the end of configure that looked like errors? Usually pointed out by "***" somewhere in the line? Can you post the last part of your configure here?

    in the same directory you will find a file named config.log which contains errors and other procedure logs
