which Linux???
I'm looking to get into Linux programming (particularly doing embedded applications), maybe even get involved with the open source community. So I'm going to convert my laptop to a dual boot system (Windoze as primary, and Linux as the secondary). There are a lot of choices out there for Linux (Debian, Red Hat, Ubuntu, Fedora, etc). Any suggestions on which Linux to choose??? Is there any one that's better than the other (my gut says No, at least at the low level because they all use the same kernel). My only requirement is that it must be one that is updated every now and then.
I'm leaning towards Ubuntu because 1) I found a tutorial on the web that has shows how to make a dual boot system with it and 2) its updated every 6 months.
But I am open to other suggestions.Last edited by devils casper; 07-23-2007 at 05:49 PM. Reason: removed font and color tags

There are several 'Which Distro' threads every day so this question has been asked and answered many times already. Also you can check the polls on this question around the forum. The best answer is to try a distro and see how it works out. Check this thread here
I'm locking this thread now, but feel free to ask any questions once you get up and running or when you start installing.
