    Question Missing shared libraries

    Hello to everyone on forum.
    I choose Fedora7 and try to be familiar with it. I read about missing shared libraries when I reach the same problem I want to install a new software. In my case are libXm.so.3 and libXp.so.6 ... I wondering two things:
    - why those libraries are not included in new installation of Fedora CD/DVD if there are lot of programs using it during installation?
    - is it normal to use rpm package from older version of Fedora if it is available there (.....fc4.rpm for example)?
    thanks, dipsy

    If the package was not installed during installation, then it means that no packages from the installation disc that you selected for install needed it. By the way, the package that provides libXm.so.3 is lesstif. As for installing FC4 rpms on Fedora 7, its possible, but its not guaranteed to go smoothly.

    ok, thanks

    a bit more about this lib: when I try to find on rpmfind.net
    --> libXm.so.3 get openmotif (FC4) provide libXm.so.3
    --> libXm.so.* get lesstif (FC7) provide libXm.so.2
    which one is correct, you suggest lesstif
