    Wi-fi for a semi-n00b?

    I'm not a total newbie, but this will be a newbie-ish question.

    What linux distro will work with my Dell 1300 (celeton m)?
    it has a built in dell 1370 miniPCI wireless card that I use as my main fdorm of connnection.

    Ubuntu seemed to recognise it, but it didn't want to use it to get online.

    Welcome to LF!

    Have you tried using ndiswrapper with ubuntu? If you want a distro that most hardware will work out of the box, you can try sabayon. If you want to stick with ubuntu, post the output of sudo lspci and sudo iwconfig.

    Download ndiswrapper and download the newest driver from dell's site. I have a slightly upgraded card and ndiswrapper worked fairly smooth. I have some problems at certain locations but at least it works at my apartment and on my campus. There are so annoying things about wi-fi in linux but overall it's been fairly easy.
