colour my progs pls

hi all..
i have a short of problem. i know a bit how to do programming in c and c++ and made commands like 'ls','cat' etc..
i want to make there output a bit colourful.. that is when ls gives its output the file name should me say in blue colour..or etc...
hope u all got it...
what are the changes should i make in the program to get the same??? :?:
