Is there any way one could terminate a port by using a simple shell command specifying the port number? (centos)
The story behind it is I've got a service that crashes down leaving the connection in close-wait state. when I try to start the service again - it notifies me port is in use...
This is a tricky situation (and I've bumped into it before with a certain proprietary app running on Solaris). When the service crashes, the PID is gone, right?
Not sure I can help with this, but read the first few hits returned by a google search on close_wait for an idea about what is occurring.
