DSL freezes at startup

I installed DSL on a 512MB memorystick today using the following guide:

USB Damn Small Linux install | USB Pen Drive Linux

However when i try and boot after i press enter, i get two penquins apear in the upper left of the screen and then nothing after that.

I am doing this on an Advent 9415 Laptop
1.6GHz Intel Pentium Dual Core T2330 with 2GB of RAM
120GB HDD with Vista Home Premium on it.

Thanks for reading, any help will be appriciated.

Try a few more combinations of cheat codes ... I find
Code:

usually work for me ... keep trying combinations.

thanks for your help again.

This didnt work either unfortunatley, this is time i've tired cheat codes and i dont really no what 1s to try, if it wont even work in failsafe mode does this mean the error is more than a graphical one? Since i do get the two penquins at the start does this mean that the monitor is working properly anways?

thanks for all your help.
