    ok but i want ot use a jpeg image with more than 16 colors so it is worth it to use lilo or install grub?

    This article says that displaying images in VESA modes is still experimental. Anyone correct me if this is no longer true. There's an option of using color images in hacked versions of GRUB, but the images must have at most 14 colors.

    Thanks for the reply i will try it and see.Also how can i change lilo and install grub?Now i have lilo in MBR

    During the instal you have that option, afterwords it can be done too. create a grub.conf in /boot/grub (assuming /boot is where your boot partition is mounted) then run grub-install.

    To set a lilo splashscreen, check out the screens available over at www.kde-look.org. Most will have the instructions on how to edit lilo.conf.

    To change to grub, you'll need to make your grub.conf file and then install grub to the mbr.
