    depends on what you would like to stop... But pretty much everything that starts up is in /etc/init.d/ just take the things you don't want starting up out of that foldier, but download knoppix 3.6 first, just in case. Hope that helped. l8r

    There are links in /etc/rc5.d. remove the links and the service will not start autoamtically anymore, create links in there using the naming scheme and new services will be started.

    Link names are S##service_name and point to /etc/init.d init scripts. The ## shows the relative order that a service will be started.

    Like S70sshd for example.
