Got a fun one for you
I have a linux device (RoomWizard) that has a buggered MBR. I need to reinstall lilo on the mbr. Pretty straight forward task, except I cannot boot the devices hdd with a live or rescue disk. I can connect the hdd to me laptop via a USB connection. Doing this will mount all the partitions automagically, the question I am posing is, how can I rebuild the MBR from the aforementioned setup. I can locate the lilo.conf and it doesn't look messed up, but this thing wont boot. My help desk guy says that it would not boot after re imaging and he is certain it is the MBR.

If your device can boot from USB than this page may be a good start. It contains a lot of usefull stuff.
