    How to use console (COM1) on CentOS?


    I need to console into a Cisco router.

    PC is running CentOS 5.

    Do I need admin rights to edit files on the PC? If so, I am toast because I have no root privilege.

    Please advise.

    You only need wx permission on the file to edit it.

    There are many applications that can open the TTY device ... without having to edit files.
