Damn Small Linux - Can't get to desktop
Hi everyone, I'm rather new to linux and need some help.
The other day I edited bootlocal.sh to autoload a few programs. However one of the programs I loaded, MySQL, loads up and I can't get to the desktop. All it has said is "Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /usr/local/mysql/data", and it's been like this for 6 hours.
How can I get past this so I can log in? I'm really new to this and I really have no clue what I am doing.

Hi, and welcome to the forums!

I'm not sure what the problem might be but if trying a different distribution isn't out of the question, you might try Puppy Linux:
Puppy Linux Community - Home
It's a small, lightweight distro like DSL is, and I recommend it because DSL is no longer active according to DistroWatch.com (shows up on their site as "dormant", whereas Puppy is still an active distro.
If you need to stick with DSL, maybe someone will chime in with a solution for you.oz
