    Question Installing build tools on linux appliance



    I have an Iomega StorCenter network storage device. I have root access to the device. Unfortunately, the device is installed with a barebones linux distro that does not have make, gcc, yum/apt-get/rpm/ipkg, etc.

    My ultimate goal is simply to install the latest version of vsftpd, so I figure that I need to get some build tools installed. Unfortunately, to install make, I need a compiler installed, and to install gcc, I need make installed.

    How do I get build tools installed on this appliance? Thank you.

    I was able to install ipkg and find an armel repository. I'm set. Thanks.
