Hi all i had a major problem installing rpms.When i try it manually with rpm -Uvh *.rpm or rpm -i *.rpm or via synaptic my system stop at transaction lock ...

rpm's won't install
Hi all i had a major problem installing rpms.When i try it manually with rpm -Uvh *.rpm or rpm -i *.rpm or via synaptic my system stop at transaction lock and show only this.
(warning: waiting for transaction lock)
Any help?Urgent!

okay:
two things to check....
1)Make sure you're root
2)Make sure you're only trying to run one instance of rpm, yum, or apt at the same time. You can't have one of each open either cos they need a lock on your system's packages

I was root when trying to install them and i didn't run apt.

Hehe. im sorry but i guess your using 2.1. it has a problem with the apt, recently the servers went down and the had to change them(not todays problwem). so you have to edit /etc/apt/sources.list
Mine says this:
rpm ftp://us2.yoper.com/pub/linux/yoper/yoper version2 os
rpm ftp://us2.yoper.com/pub/linux/yoper/yoper contrib os
#rpm ftp://us2.yoper.com/pub/linux/yoper/yoper rocketfuel os
#rpm-src ftp://us2.yoper.com/pub/linux/yoper/yoper version2 os
#rpm-src ftp://us2.yoper.com/pub/linux/yoper/yoper contrib os
So, change yours to that and it should work i think...
then try apt-get install whatever
P.S. i just now realized that im totaly off subject, but ill post still if it helps
