MySQL
Hi there, I've just installed Yoper and used synaptic to update most packages, including mySQL. The problem is that I can't seem to start mysqld at all. I've been googling for info and it appears that Yoper comes with MySQL preinstalled - is that correct? Are their issues with updating MySql over the preexisting install? What does the default install do in terms of creating tables, and users (and passwords for those users?)
TIA
Peter.

Re: MySQL
More detail: this is what happens when I try to run mysqld_safe as root:
root@yoper ~ # mysqld_safe
Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /var/lib/mysql
STOPPING server from pid file /var/lib/mysql/yoper.pid
041117 09:49:08 mysqld ended
When I try to run the mysql.server script (with the 'start' parameter) which comes with mysql, I get no response at all
Either way, no mysqld process is started.
