Sadly, I had some things come up and I haven't really had much free time to try and get it tackled.
Once I get going with it, though, I'll be sure to let you guys know.

Well, I have got a GUI but a very primitive one. I can't get it to work with slim yet (I'll have to see to that tomorrow) but it does come up with startx. I'm using it now.

I used my Squeeze config file for building the kernel as it was created for 2.6.32, whereas the old Crux one was for 2.6.30. Remarkably it booted first time around. First time that's ever happened to me!

I'm closing down now. Lots of work still to do but it looks very hopeful.

PS: no trouble with hard drive partitions either: they're all recognised.

OK, slim working now, full graphical login. The problem - and it seems to be a general one - is that a lot of libraries have had major upgrades and the programs dependent on them need to be rebuilt. So far I've had to do that with slim, feh and sylpheed and there's probably many others.

There's a lot of updating in the pipeline which I will do overnight. Then I'll run revdep.

The most annoying thing at the moment is that I've lost my taskbar (PyPanel) and can't get it to rebuild.
