Help with DSL
Hi, I want to put Damn Small Linux on an inspiron 1525. The WiFi definitely doesn't work and I'm not sure if the sound does or not. Do I need to use ndiswrapper? What about the sound? If someone wants to do the same (put this on this laptop), knows how or even can give me advise on how to use ndiswrapper then please do so.
Thanks

Which version of DSL, and what kernel is it running? The hardware should be supported by current versions of the kernel. If you installed an older version of DSL you may not be so lucky. I know that Ubuntu 9.04 and later worked out of the box with an Inspirion 1525 that I had (and gave to my grandson).
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

Hi and Welcome !
Why do you want to install DSL in inspiron 1525? A lot of mainstream distros works fine on it. Last time I checked, latest version of DSL worked fine on it. Which version are you using? It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Osiff,
There is a DamnSmallLinux.org website, with latest info. 50 Megabytes of RAM for OS.
Current version is 4.4.10. Development is not active, but not dead!
There is a TinyCore org website, which might be the next stage from DSL.
distro.ibiblio.org/tinycorelinux/welcome.html
I have been using TinyCore and it works well. 10 Megabytes of RAM for the OS.
I have used Puppy 5.25 on several machines, and it works very well. 128 Megabytes of RAM.
All have live-CD available from OSDisc.com for $3. each.
buena suerta,
