    problem installing linux on mercury motherboard?

    Hi guys,another problem........

    My brother has mercury motherboard 915 motherboard, intel 2.4Ghz p4 processor. He is unable to install linux in his system. Though ubuntu 7.04 is being installed he is getting only 600 by 480 resolution.

    Please give a solution to this problem.

    Hello and welcome to the forums!

    The 7.04 release of Ubuntu is four years old now, so he should get better hardware support by going with a later release such as 10.04 or 10.10, but it's also important to make sure he's using the correct video drivers with any release that he installs, and to use the correct horiz/vert sync and refresh rates as called for in the user manual for his monitor.
