    I finally got my yoper machine online but...

    well, with the website down, your synaptic usage is probably shot...

    here's some other way to go about it, though....

    you can download a tgz file through www.linuxpackages.net, and use the pkginstall "whateverfileitis" command

    or you can try using apt get, which is also built in.
