also just curious there are 3 mirrors when i go to get the iso is there a difference in which 0ne i get?

In Linux. Just open a terminal where the downloaded iso is sitting and do.

Any of the 3 mirror sites should be ok to use. Just be sure to check md5sum after download of iso to make sure you ended up with a good download.

So far. It looks like you are just stumbling around with a full iso install. Maybe you are installing grub to root instead of mbr on sda.
How much ram have you got by the way and what speed is the processor on this dell?
