Problem with Audio on OEL 5.5
I have recently installed vlc player on Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.5 on my desktop. It works fine for video, but no audio output.
The Volume Control pannel is in MUTE status and even if i try to unmute or try to open "OPEN VOLUME CONTROL" I get an error message
"NO VOLUME CONTROL GSTREAMER PLUGINS AND/OR DEVICES FOUND".
Please help me with this issue.
Regards,
Venkat

Go to a command-line and run the command "alsamixer". There you will see some controls for setting the audio output levels. Either the master level is off, or the hardware (PCM) level is off. The usual culprit is the PCM level. Set it to some reasonable setting and see if you get sounds.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
