    Hello and Welcome!
Seeing as all 3 of your choices are Ubuntu/Debian based, you should feel a certain degree of comfort with each if you try them all out.
The main differences between them will be default Desktop Environments and default software installed.
Other than that, the underlying system will be quite similar. Feel free to try them all.
And then you can tell us what is best... for you.

Give Point Linux a try. It's a Pure Debian 7 "Wheezy" based OS with a MATE desktop(i.e. Gnome 2 feel) and is very easy on the resources. Point Linux was what I was looking for when I moved from Ubuntu 12.04LTS to Linux Mint 15 MATE. Chances are if I'd have went Point before Mint I'd have never went Mint. As a "noob" to Linux(only been using it for about 5 months) I don't really have any preconceived notions about it. I just go with what works and gives me the functionality that I need to do what I do and Point Linux is all that and more. Heck, if Robbie Ferguson from Category5.TV loves it(and he's been using Linux for years) then you know it has to be pretty good.

I'm afraid I can't help you with that... I'm not overly familiar with Windows errors. I've never even sat down to a Windows 8 machine.

If multiple attempts at burning, with several different distros gave the same error, then I have to doubt that it's the Distro to blame.
Since I don't know what software is included in Win8, I tried a few Google searches.
This link came up top on all 3 searches: Burn a CD or DVD from an ISO file

The file you are trying to burn is irrelevant. If it don't wanna burn, but gives a driver error, then it might be an OS issue.

    *EDIT*
Look here... see if it helps.
