If that's SL 6.4, then you're good to go. Make sure you've got the the epel and rpmfusion repositories correctly installed (visit the rpmfusion website and carefully follow the instructions for enabling epel and both rpmfusion repositories from your web browser, taking care to use the x86_64 versions) then head over to skype, download the rpm.

The problem you have with skype is that it's 32-bit only. That means it'll need 32-bit versions of various libraries that it is dependent upon. The best way to do resolve the missing dependencies is to use yum, as this should pick everything up for you - but you'll need epel for certain and probably rpmfusion too.

Go to the skype downloads page and download one of the rpm versions - you probably want to try the Fedora rpm, and if that fails try the SuSE one. Install it from the command line: do 'yum install <rpm filename>'. It should go off and satisfy any dependencies it needs, and if it can't do it, it will tell you.
