Install hangs at cd-rom driver load
Hi there, I have been using Yoper on my desktop for quite some time and decided to try it out on my laptop. I have installed Xandros, Slackware, Debian, Ubuntu and Mandrake all on this laptop previously and had only a few troubles, but never any like this
The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 2600 with a 1.2GHz Intel celeron processor, 128MB shared ram. The laptop uses the infamous 830m chipset and the video uses the i810 driver on most other distros.
The cd-rom is a 24x Teac cdrw drive.
The hard drive is 20 gigabytes.
In order to get a good display I need to boot with the vga=771 option or the screen goes wild.
Anway, the installer starts loading but always freezes right at the uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20
The system locks and will do nothing. It does this on both the 2.1 and 2.2 installers.
Anybody got a fix for me? perhaps some sort of code to add to the boot screen?
I would appreciate any help.
