Problem with updating apt-get ...
Hey guys, I want to get wine on my Mepis so I tried "apt-get install wine" and it gave me package wine doesn't exist... so I wanted to update apt-get
so I type "apt-get update" and I get the following:
0% [Connecting to apt.mepis.org(1.0.0.0)]
And it doesn't connect and then it says failed because connection timed out...
And my internet is working just fine... So can anyone plz help me....

Oh and another problem is that i try to enable repositories or add new ones in synaptic ... he keeps trying to connect then fails

Try using Kpackage or whatever that is. It might not make a difference at all, but I got real tired of using Synaptic when I had Mepis and I found that Kpackage worked better

Did you check the apt.conf proxy setting
Please do the following
vi /etc/apt/apt.conf
change the lines within the braces to match your settings
__________________________________________________ ________
HTTP {
Proxy "http://<Your proxy server>:<Port Number>";
};
__________________________________________________ __________
Please ask your systems administrator for your proxy servers name and port.

* apt-get is working fine in your machine.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
