Mapping to linux server from XP
I have read lots of forums regarding using XP as a client and Linux as a server, but I"m not able to do it. I am almost there. I see the Linux server in XP network neighborhood, but can't seem to access any shares. I've gone over and over the Samba settings but it's not as easy as it sounds. I've already spent a week working on it and have admitted defeat and am asking for help. I'm sure it's something simple.

well, you should try relaxing all the constraints first and see if it works.
an example of a share:
make sure smbpasswd consists of the users(with which you are accessing form the XP box)Code:[share] path=x/x read only=No hosts.allow=ALL
make sure you have absolutely no firewall blocking both on Linux and XP.
you can post here any errors or log reports in /var/log related to your problem.
you can even post your smb.conf ......
regards
