i dont know if this is where i should post this, but here goes, my es1869 sound card in my compaq presario is scratchy and i can barely hear anything at all, i have reinstalled the driver, and updated it to the newest driver, but it is still scratchy

what distribution are you using? what sound architecture (alsa or oss)?
