Kubuntu vs Mepis
I am currently using Kubuntu 6.10 edgy, and am COMPLETELY satisfied. I heard about mepis, and I know that I like the KDE desktop, So I ran the Live CD and It has a lot of eyecandy. I liked it a lot, but I am not sure I want to make that switch over to mepis. If I can have at least 8 reasons Mepis is better than Kubuntu I will Gladly make that switch.

Choosing a Linux distribution is a very personal thing.
Different people will tell you different opinions.
As Mepis is based on Ubuntu, the two are very similar anyway. The eye candy aspect you are referring to only has to do with Beryl being installed by default in Mepis, but it is still very easy to install it in Kubuntu.
Try both for yourself and decide. Good luck."To express yourself in freedom, you must die to everything of yesterday. From the 'old', you derive security; from the 'new', you gain the flow."
