The command "pppoe-start" is executable by root only.
Even on changing the x permission to others it is not invoked by ordinary users.
I changed the group permissions to "chgrp users /usr/sbin/pppoe-start" but still it is not working for ordinary users.
How to make it executable by normal users?
Sometimes the command sudo or sudo su will root an app....for example a desktop icon useing sudo \usr\sbin\pppoe-start may work..but everything is relative so it is just something else to try.. best of luck
The problem is I don't want to su or become root.
In tkpppoe, at the time of installation, we can make it execuatable by non-root users whereas we can't make it with pppoe-start.
