Welcome to the forums!
Try using the SuperGRUB LiveCD to restore/remove GRUB, or to restore your Windows bootloader, as needed.
Let us know how it goes.
ok i downloaded the iso image but like i said hda5 is wiped out and hda1 has windows..................i am running dsl from the live cd and im getting used to it but like i said i need to get back to windows for some stuff so my next question is how do i write the iso file to a disk??..................i only have one CD drive which is a writer
If you don't have a working system that you can use to write the ISO file to disk, you can use your Windows installation CD to restore the Windows bootloader.
For Windows XP/Me/98...
boot with a Windows emergency boot disk and run the following command:
...or you can boot with the Windows installation CD and from the Recovery Console enter the following command:
Doing either one of those should rewrite the MBR (master boot record) allowing you to reboot directly into Windows.
For Windows Vista...
boot from Vista installation DVD
select Repair Your Computer
select Windows Vista
select Command Prompt
execute the following commands:
close/exit Command Prompt screen, and reboot.
Let us know how it goes...
