I'm a bit rusty at linux, and I need some help re-installing a java compiler (for some reason my current one wont find the java.util.Scanner class). I downloaded a .bin from the main Java site, and I have no idea how to run it.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. I'm running BackTrack 4
This page should help you get your software installed.
Thank you. I forgot to make it executable.
I knew it was something insignificant like that.
Thanks for the help.
Also, I'm going to post here again if my Java compiler still doesn't work right.
Sorry for the double post, but I'm having issues again.
I ran the .bin and it made a folder on my desktop with a readme file. The file redirected me to here:
Java SE 6 Platform Installation
I don't really understand what to do...
The name of the folder is "jdk1.6.0_24" (without the quotes of course)
Can somebody help explain?
Thanks again in advance.
you should be able to install sun jdk from repo, but here you go
using latest Sun Java JRE
Thanks, but I need JDK. JRE works just fine. I need JDK so I can compile Java files, and gcj is saying that it can't find any of the files I import. Any idea on how to fix this?
