Puppy Linux Timing out
I'm trying to boot 2.10 Puppy Linux and as it's an old maching i've made a Wakepup floppy for it. It loads all the way through and recognizes that it is a puppy cd in the drive, but then it seems to time out when trying to read the drive and it says 'timeout waiting for DMA' and 'drive not ready for command'
how can i fix this problem and get it to read the cd?

Someone might correct me if wrong but DMA is a feature of your hard drive. It is usually turned on in the bios settings ,where the machine boots and it says "press delete key for settings"
Go in there and turn on DMA and see how you go
The more recent 2.14 version of Puppy Linux is out now and Linux Magazine have it on a Live CD which works well for me.
Brilliantly fast and efficient
