Sabayon mnt dvd
Newly installed and can't play dvd's.
sr1 doesn't work (I set fstab up with this and a mount point)
wodim -devices doesn't work and I can't remember the ls command to find what the second drive is called.
I don't understand the udev stuff so have you suggestions please?
-
fdisk -l should tell you your drives and partitions.
-
Actually I had tried..
eject hdc
eject sr1
etc until the tray opened and it was sr1!
I have set this in Mplayer but it doesn't detect any media (can't find any place to enter this info in Totem).
If it was codecs it would at least tell me it couldn't open it wouldn't it?
But it just says no media opened.
-
When you start Totem, if you click Movie and select the DVD player, it detects no media?
-
I updated Sabayon last night and now have no panels in Gnome!
I logged into Fluxbox and tried the Xine player and it is working!
Mplayer and Totem are not. I tried to copy the error message from Totem but it wouldn't copy. It was all about Gstreamer though so perhaps I need Gstreamer plugins?
Totem shows no DVD player option at all!
I should perhaps mention that Totem will play movie clips that I have... wmv and assorted others.
Edit. Here is the Totem error
Code:
(totem:7576): GStreamer-WARNING **: Failed to load plugin '/usr/lib64/gstreamer-0.10/libgstvideo4linux2.so': libv4l2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
** (totem:7575): WARNING **: Failed to create dbus proxy for org.gnome.SettingsDaemon: Could not get owner of name 'org.gnome.SettingsDaemon': no such name

I am actually using Ubuntu at the moment, but installing gstreamer sounds like it may work. Its weird that Gnome is not showing the panels after an update. Are you running a 64-bit installation?
-
I have the panels back now but need to do a revdep-rebuild and then check out the gstreamer plugins.
It'll have to wait until tonight though...slow connection!
Thanks for helping

Spent hours at this to no avail.
I'm afraid I have done what I usually do with video/audio difficulties...downloaded Kaffeine and there's an end to it.
Kaffeine (for me) always works...best video too!
