solaris

im interesed for trying solaris.i have a few questions?
-is solaris written in java?
-what filesystem type does it use?
-what bootloader does it have?
-if is possible to add it to my grub.conf than what to add?

This link may helpNo it is not written in Java, it was around a long time before Java was released. It uses Grub also so no difference in configuring it to any other grub. Currently it uses ZFS.

-Solaris is a full unix os but the desktop enviromment is Java
-I think it is ZFS
-Uses grub (at least in opensolaris)
-A chainloader +1 should work as in BSD

Solaris is not written in java but it makes extensive use of java based technologies. The default desktop is CDE and the other is Sun Java Desktop. Sun Java Desktop is not really written in java, its GNOME, with some java addons. The default filesystem is UFS (Unix Fast Filesystem) although in newer versions ZFS and others are available. As others mentioned, you can use GRUB to boot Solaris (newer versions of Solaris Express use Grub as the default bootloader).
