Hello there,
I was trying to use CRUX linux as I loved the way it works [KISS, I am a long-time OBSD user], but - after everything set and done just like the manual says - I am unable to boot the system, because it is still throwing at me "kernel panic: unable to mount root fs (3,1)" message. Does it miss any sort of initramfs? if so then how to create one? manual doesn't say a word about it. what can I do? can you help me?

Well, I'm using lilo and I really prefer this over grub ;) I only have boot.menu.lst.sample under /boot/grub/ dir.
I've read something about GRUB being able to resolve this problem, but - AFAIK - it's not an actual fix, but just a simple override action, besides: I'd really stick to lilo.
Well I haven't tinkered with Lilo in a long time. Here is a pretty good article that you may find useful, or you could wait until a couple of our CRUX users show up.

Well, I installed grub, but it didn't help. menu.lst

I'm affraid that's a CRUX-specific problem. I've installed the system on a real HW and the problem persist. I just can't image how the creators of CRUX could possibly miss out this problem, as it lies just right in the core of the OS! System just can't BOOT, can you imagine? it's like a physically disabled athlete ... sad and unbelievable.
I can't get the output of this command - too much of typing [VM], besiedes: I already removed this vhd. There's a lot of grub files copied from the /usr/share, I followed instructions, so I guess it's just OK.
However, I had another thought: maybe the problem is caused by the fact that I am using "latest", not an actual 2.5 version of CRUX?
I'm downloading a stable version now, will let you know if anything change.
