Sis Chipset Laptop - Linux now working!
Ok, My laptop has the 771/761 Sis graphics chipset, UBUNTU did not seem to want to play with it, I have now loaded PCLinuxOS which has picked up all the Sis hardware and runs fine, even giving me 1280*800 resolution.
So any of you out there also fall into despair when most versions cause problems, here's one you can at least get started with.

I have SiS 771/761 Graphics chipset only. Ubuntu doesn't support it well but if you use "vesa" driver instead of "sis" and add Monitor supported HorizSync/VertiRefresh rates in xorg.conf file, you can get 1280x1024 resolution easily.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
