what is the difference about ip address between the local and remote

my PC system is the ubuntu of linux,

i perform the command " plog " , then check ip .

that responding as following ..

local ip address XXx.XXX.XXX.XXx
remote ip address XXx.XXX.XXX.XXx
primary DNS address XXx.XXX.XXX.XXx
secondary DNS address XXx.XXX.XXX.XXx

now, i am confused, what is the difference about the address

local address is the address of your machine on your local lan
remote address is the address that your modem is using to access the internet

DNS is the server to be asked for IP addresses or host names.
It is given as an IP to avoid a chicken/egg problem.
