sata hard drive in linux

I have 3 hard drives in my computer, two are ide a 20gb and a 40gb,and the last one is a sata hard drive160gb(which I just installed).
I'm using kubuntu 7.10
Now the bios in my computer sees the sata hard drive.

Kubuntu in currently installed on the 20gb. I'm wanting to put whats on the 40gb to the sata 160gb, and install kubuntu on the 40gb.

Here's my problem kubuntu doesn't see the 160gb, But when I went to the kubuntu installation screen off the cd it sees the sata but won't let me access it.
So I tried to see what would happen if I went to the partition screen it lets me do stuff to the hard drive.

So how do I copy my data from the ide 40gb to the sata 160gb?

Also the sata is a maxtor basics hard drive.

Plug-in SATA HD and execute sudo fdisk -l command in Konsole. Does it list 160GB HD?
Code:
sudo fdisk -l

Kubuntu is detecting 160 GB is disk but its not formatted and doesn't have any partitions. Is it a brand new HD? Create new partition in it using PartedMagic or Gparted LiveCD.
